Song of Summer
This ketubah is based on an Italian ketubah from Ancona, Italy in the year 1811.
The main ornamentation used here is based on the typically Italian composition of branches, flowers,
and fruits intertwined with flora, exotic birds in all their warm colourings. The artist has created
a rhythmic design that parades happily around the text. The shield at the top of the ketubah
traditionally was filled with quotes from the Bible. Here the artist has filled the shield with a
contemporary treatment of the Star of David. There is a feeling here of warmth and life and of all
the possibilities of a new life together.
